About MRI Site at Silver Cross Health Center - Orland Medical Pavilion
About The Provider
MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging), MRA (Magnetic Resonace Angiography), and MRV (Magnetic Resonance Venography) are specialized exams using a powerful superconducting magnet and radiofrequencies.
MRI is used for imaging most anatomy including Neurologic, Muscular Skeletal, and Body image. An MRA is used to image the body's arterial structures, whereas the MRV is used to image the body's venous structures.
The images produced can show detailed images of the anatomy. Due to the detailed images, MRI exams can last 30 minutes or more. During the exam, you will need to lie flat and still. The body part that is being imaged will also need to be in the middle of the scanner. The scanner is approximately 4ft long and between 2-3ft wide.
The magnet is always on, so it is important to inform your technologist of any potential previous injuries with metal, surgeries, implants, or metal worn on the body (i.e. jewelry, piercings, hair pins, etc.). Before the exam, you will be asked to change into a gown and must complete an MRI safety sheet before entering the MRI room for your safety.
