Michael Gerard Gartlan, MD

Dr. Michael Gartlan has focused his career on effectively treating patients with ear, nose, and throat (ENT) conditions of all ages, with a focus on children in particular. His clinical interests include the medical and surgical management of:

• Pediatric ENT problems
• Otolaryngic allergy, including allergy and skin testing and sublingual immunotherapy
  Ear disease, including endoscopic ear surgery, and minimally invasive endoscopic ear surgery
• Hearing loss, including reconstructive ear surgery, bone-anchored hearing aids, and digital hearing aids
• Sinus and nasal disease, including endoscopic sinus surgery and balloon sinuplasty
• Obstructive sleep apnea with innovative surgical procedures to avoid CPAP
• Thyroid and parathyroid surgery
• Voice and airway disorders 
• Facial skin cancer reconstruction

Dr. Gartlan graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science degree and is a graduate of the University of Illinois School of Medicine in Chicago, Illinois.  His surgical internship at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois was followed by an otolaryngology residency at the top rated University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa.  He subsequently completed a fellowship in Pediatric Otolaryngology at Lurie’s Children’s Hospital in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Gartlan is a board certified Otolaryngologist - Head & Neck Surgeon.  He is a fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.  He was selected to be a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology- Head and Neck Surgery, American College of Surgeons and American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. Dr. Gartlan has authored numerous medical publications including textbook chapters, and has presented in multiple national medical conferences.
