Lauren Ghee, MD

Lauren Ghee, M.D., F.A.C.S. is a board-certified general surgeon with advanced expertise in robotic and minimally invasive procedures. She specializes in the surgical treatment of hiatal, abdominal wall, and inguinal hernias, as well as colon resections for diverticulitis and colon cancer, and gallbladder disease.

Dr. Ghee is also a member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons, performing breast surgery for both cancer and benign conditions. She has received additional training to address cosmetic considerations in breast surgery, ensuring a comprehensive and patient-centered approach.

In addition to her surgical practice, Dr. Ghee provides screening and diagnostic procedures, including upper endoscopy (EGD) for heartburn and Barrett’s esophagus, and colonoscopy for colon cancer prevention.

Known for her compassionate care, Dr. Ghee begins by listening closely to her patients’ concerns and symptoms. She then develops a personalized treatment plan focused on achieving the best possible outcomes.

Dr. Ghee earned her medical degree from The University of Alabama School of Medicine and completed her general surgery residency at St. Agnes Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. She spent eight years as a general surgeon at St. Joseph Hospital in Joliet, Illinois, where she served on key committees such as the Breast Program Leadership Committee and the Commission on Cancer. She was Chair of the Department of Surgery from 2024 to 2025 and was honored as Physician of the Year in 2023.

Dr. Ghee is fluent in English and conversational in Spanish. Outside of medicine, she enjoys gardening, knitting, needlepoint, cheering on college football, and spending quality time with her family.
