John Tholany, D.O., is a board-certified Family Medicine physician with Silver Cross Medical Group in Lemont.
Dr. Tholany attended medical school at Des Moines University in Des Moines, Iowa and completed his Family Medicine residency at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, Illinois. During his residency, he served as a member of the Graduate medical Education Committee and as the resident lead for the Journal Club and Evidence-Based Medicine curriculum. Prior to joining Silver Cross Medical Group, Dr. Tholany was selected to help pilot a Transitionalist Primary Care Physician role, with a focus on acute care and helping patients transition back to primary care following hospitalizations and urgent care visits.
As a Family Medicine physician, Dr. Tholany provides comprehensive care for patients across all stages of life, from newborns through older adulthood.
Dr. Tholany is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians.
Philosophy Of Care
Dr. Tholany has a particular interest in preventative medicine and believes that helping patients understand their health and medical conditions is an essential part of providing excellent care. His approach emphasizes shared decision-making, combining the best available medical evidence with each patient's individual goals, preferences, and circumstances to develop treatment plans that are both effective and realistic.
