Alan H Chen, MD

Dr. Alan Chen has been practicing plastic, reconstructive and hand surgery in the Joliet area since 2007.

After his training in plastic surgery, Dr. Chen stayed at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center and completed a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery.

Dr. Chen performs all aspects of reconstructive operations, including head and neck, trunk and extremity reconstruction using microvascular technique (limb reattachment, free flaps). He also performs breast reconstruction, breast augmentation, body contouring and facial aesthetic procedures.

Following his general surgery training, Dr. Chen next completed a plastic and reconstructive surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. 

He completed his Bachelors of Arts degree and graduated Cum Laude from Cornell University and earned his medical degree with honors from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City. Dr. Chen completed a general surgery residency at Harvard Medical School at the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. During this training, Dr. Chen also completed a two-year surgical research fellowship at the Yale University School of Medicine in the Division of Vascular Surgery.
